If you’re as obsessed with #SkinTok as we are, you know that the double cleansing method has become the shrine at which skincare enthusiasts worship for clear, glass skin. Though there are a handful of slight variations you can take with the method, generally, it involves two things—a cleansing oil and a water-based cleanser. First, use the oil cleanser to melt away sweat, makeup, and SPF, then use the gel cleanser to actually clean your skin.
The method has caught on quickly. First a staple amongst the trendiest skincare enthusiasts, it’s now become the defacto cleansing method for both drugstore and luxury brands alike. The latest brand to get in on the dermatologist-loved cleansing ritual? Victoria Beckham Beauty.
Posh Spice’s luxury beauty brand—an offshoot of her designer clothing label—first came on the scene in 2019 and since then has garnered a devout fan base for everything from its eyeliner to lipsticks and moisturizers. However, although plenty of skin prep and makeup is already in the brand’s offering, something to wash it all off with wasn’t—until now.
Ahead is everything you need to know about Victoria Beckham Beauty’s first—and second face—wash launches, the Daily Cleansing Protocol ($120).
The Products
After two years of formulating, the luxury beauty brand finally settled on two formulas (sold as a pair) that work hand-in-hand to gently exfoliate, remove pollutants, and leave skin more hydrated and glowy over time.
The first step the brand's Daily Cleansing Protocol? Their new Daily Oil Cleanser. Like any cleansing oil or balm, you apply it to dry skin—with or without makeup—and massage it into your skin to melt away gunk, grime, and cosmetics with ease. The brand recommends just one pump to fully cleanse your skin as a first step.
After that? Purify with the Daily Lactic Acid Gel Cleanser. This gentle exfoliating cleanser is meant to lift away any of the oil residue and lingering makeup, pollutants, and SPF to fully cleanse your skin before you apply your favorite serums and lotions.
Together, the duo, which retails for $120, “acts as a modern, deep cleansing treatment” that “extends far beyond simply washing your face,” says Melanie Grant, a celebrity esthetician who helped devlop the formulas. She adds that the cleansers give back to your skin, and help optimize its “many complex functions.” She adds that the “Daily Cleansing Protocol is designed to provide a facial-grade cleanse while delivering an elevated luxury experience.”
The Formulas
The Daily Oil Cleanser melts the day off of your skin using three different oils with additional multiple skin-loving benefits.
The first of the three is olive oil. A timeless ingredient, olive oil is packed with fatty acids and antioxidants that strengthen the skin as it cleanses. There’s also a blend of rice bran oil and avocado oil that benefits the skin barrier and suppleness. The last of the three oils is fermented green tea seed oil. This green tea-derived ingredient helps protect against free radical damage and supercharges skin’s moisture reserves.
After your makeup and SPF are melted away with the oils, you, of course, have to lather on the Daily Lactic Acid Gel Cleanser to get your skin fully clean. As the name implies, lactic acid is the star ingredient of this cleanser. One of the most gentle exfoliants, you can use this every day without fear of irritation. However, that isn’t the only ingredient. In combination with the exfoliant, VBB added rose water and saccharide isomerate to help soothe your skin and hydrate it while it cleanses.
